Established in Victoria in early 2013, Australian UAV has been rapidly growing to now have offices across Victoria, NSW, Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia, with more around the corner. The company has been established by experienced consulting engineers, scientists and film industry professionals with a focus on professionalism, safety and high quality product delivery.
Our staff are far more that drone operators and come from a diverse range of industries including; drafting/GIS, CFD modelling, computer programming, machine learning, ASME qualified inspection, UAV design, GPS machine control, survey, asset condition reporting, advanced photogrammetry and more. These diverse skills enable us to add considerable value to the data we collect.
Having completed many thousands of flights for commercial, private and government clients, Australian UAV is one of the country’s most experienced and professional drone operators.
We are certified by the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (certificate #CASA.UOC.0057) and hold all necessary public liability, professional liability and workcover insurances.
|James Rennie (Ph: 0497 070 576) is a natural resource scientist who worked for 17 years in government and consulting engineering companies. He has held senior leadership roles in local and multi-national companies and provided consulting services to government agencies, mining companies, asset managers and land developers. With thousands of professional UAV flights completed, and 10 years prior to that flying fixed-wing RC, he has gained flying and mapping experience in Antarctica, Armenia and throughout Australia. He fills the role of Chief Controller and is ultimately responsible for the safe operation of the business.
Andrew Chapman (Ph: 0488 130 900) leads our NSW operations and has a background in aviation, technology, computer graphics and film production. A leader in the new drone industry, he has previously founded a successful UAV company while living in Canada and also served as a member of the Board at Unmanned Systems Canada, the national industry body. Andrew has strong skills in project management, digital image processing, technology and aviation. He holds pilot licenses in Australia and Canada, and has been flying remotely piloted aircraft of various forms since age 7. He has a strong vision for the future of the industry and is incredibly driven and excited by all the possibilities and efficiencies that this new technology can bring to various industries and special projects.
